Film critic and historian Leonard Maltin, who provides introductions for both discs included in The Chronological Donald, Vol. 4: 1951-1961, points out that Walt Disney continued to make Donald Duck cartoons well after his studio had stopped creating titles featuring Goofy, Pluto, and even Disney figurehead Mickey Mouse. Perusing the nearly three dozen items included here, it's easy to see why the "wise-quacking duck" was still in business nearly 30 years after his creation. This stuff is brilliant: clever, funny, endlessly inventive, and sometimes even educational, it simply never gets old. Of course, some are better than others; "Trick or Treat," to name just one, features Huey, Dewey, and Louie, allied with the hag Witch Hazel, taking their Halloween revenge on their mean and stingy uncle, with not one but two original songs, one of them a hilarious "dance" number after Hazel puts a spell on Donald's feet, all crammed into about eight minutes. Elsewhere, we find traditional nemeses like Chip `n' Dale (particularly good in "Working for Peanuts," which was originally produced in 3-D) and Black Pete, as well as a variety of newer adversaries, both "human" and animal, on whom the hot-headed duck unleashes his notorious temper. Of particular interest to some will be the educational shorts like "Mathmagic Land" (at nearly 30 minutes, it's several times longer than the average cartoon in this set), which sports a weird, almost postmodern look and includes jokes about trees with "square roots," information about the value of pi, circles, pentagrams, pentagons in nature, the "golden rectangle" in Greek architecture, and a great deal more, and even some live action footage. Other rarities include "Grand Canyonscope," filmed in CinemaScope (with ample big, wide vistas as Donald lays waste to the Grand Canyon), a look at some storyboards that were never made into a finished product, and more. But the main attraction is Donald. Voiced, as always in those days, by Clarence "Ducky" Nash, the irrepressible duck ("Who's never wrong but always right? Who'd never dream of starting a fight?" goes the theme song) is one of the great creations in the history of popular entertainment. --Sam Graham

But it gets even better when working with multiple categories of items in your Favorites; Multi-select a hairstyle, several clothing items and a pose all at once, then click and drag them right onto your target figure. Poser will automatically apply the items. It doesn't get much easier. Within the Library, you'll be able to drag and drop items from folder to folder making it easy to reorganize your Content. Morphing Tool Tablet Support If you own a Wacom pressure sensitive tablet, Poser is going to make you a very happy camper. Build light domes, environment domes and large area lights to cast ambient light without being rendered in the scene. Combined with our new Poser Scene Library category, this feature will be a great way to deliver a fully lit IDL environment. Frame Selected Object In complex scenes it can be a little challenging to keep your camera focused on an area that you're working on using Poser's original camera controls. To help out, we've introduced the Frame Selected Object Camera. With the click of a button, your current camera will zoom in on the selected object, allowing you take a closer look at exactly where you're working on. This makes it easier to navigate in and out of your deep scenes and saves you time when creating them. Orbit Selected Object Mode Poser also includes a new mode as a companion feature to the new Frame Selected Object Camera. Simply toggle on the Orbit Selected mode and your current camera will rotate around the center point of the currently selected object. This makes it easier to focus on a selected element, and view it from every direction by spinning Camera trackball controls. Faster Dynamic Hair Our engineers spent time under the hood to speed up Dynamic Hair. Now Poser's powerful Dynamic Hair calculates collisions faster and renders it faster as well. Not compatible with Mac computers, the Easy Link Internet Launch Pad requires Microsoft Windows XP, 2000, or Vista; a 750 MHz processor; a USB 1.1 port, 128 MB of RAM, and an Internet connection. The Easy-Link Internet Launchpad offers Internet environments that allow children to play games without venturing into other areas online. Parents simply connect it to their computer using the included USB cable to allow kids to safely visit preschool-appropriate Web sites and play online games. Kids can plug their favorite character figures into the Launchpad and be taken directly to that character's website. Once a character is plugged in, kids are only allowed to visit pages on that Web site until they plug in a different character, keeping them away from unsafe sites and unable to get into your computer files. Each game can be played using your computer's current mouse and the arrow keys on the Easy-Link Internet Launchpad. When parents want to go back to normal computer use, they can simply enter a passcode to turn the Easy-Link off. Launchpad comes with three Easy-Link figures: Elmo, Dragon Tales and a cute Fisher-Price character. Eight additional Easy-Link Figures sold separately. Measures 10.5"L x 10.5"W x 6"H.
